Bagels

▁ dec 07 2005

As some of you might know, me and my girlfriend both enjoy cooking. Recently we picked up a book called ‘Kaffe’ (‘Coffee’ in Norwegian), that contained various recipes for making special coffees, deserts and pastry. In there was a recipe for bagels, which seemed interesting. We decided to try and make them, but instead I dug up a recipe online. They came out nothing short of awesome. So I’ll share.

Maybe I tend to use the word “awesome” a bit much, but I’ve never meant it as much as with regards to these. The guy who published this recipe has been developing it over quite some time with minor modifications here and there. He really got it right on. Unfortunately (as much as I’d like to), I cannot currently supply my faithful readers with a picture, but the next time I make these (which will be soon!), I’ll be sure to post a picture. If you need some tips on how to make these extra-tasty, here’s one thing you can do after baking them. Take some cream-cheese, a bit of creme fraiche, mayonaise, salt & pepper and mix it all together to a thick cream. Spread a good amount of this on the lower half of the bagel. Put on some dried lettuce (just a bit wet makes the entire thing sloppy). Now, take some pieces of orange and put those on top of the lettuce. Take 2 slices of smoked salmon, and top the whole thing off with that. Put the top half on, and dig in. It’s great. Of course here’s [“the recipe”:http://www.tastingmenu.com/recipes/favorites/bagels.htm].
