iQuit, Amsterdam, Documentary
I haven’t blogged for a week or two now. I’ve been busy with things. I’ll talk about them in the order of the topic for this post. So first of all, I quit Opera. This will probably be news to most of you, even my colleagues. What am I doing now? Well on to my next point…
I went to Amsterdam a week ago. I took lots of “touristy pictures”:http://gallery.noehr.org/amsterdam-1006/ … again. Hey, I love the city.
I was offered a job there by a small company called “Medialab”:http://www.medialab.nl/. They make search engines for public libraries. I’ll be working as a developer, and I’ll be doing C#/.NET. Not my usual ballgame, I know, but learning new things is fun. I got my last day at Opera the 19th of January, and my first day at Medialab the 1st of February. So I got a week inbetween there to move down. I’m only bringing books, some movies, some kitchen supplies and clothes, so the move shouldn’t be that big of a deal. I’m really looking forward to it! Amsterdam is a lovely city, and I’m sure I’ll have a great time there.
Leaving behind friends will be a pain, though. I’ve made lots of nice acquaintances here, and it hurts me to leave them. The Netherlands is only an hour away by flight, though, so hopefully they’ll all come visit me often.
About a year ago, there were some people at Opera to make a documentary about money or something. They rigged up all these railings for cameras in our old offices, and I was just informed that the movie is out. I think it’s for students or something. Either way, I’m in it!
Don’t I just look professional? Notice the pink action figure that we got from the local minimart for NOK 10. Very relaxed environment ;-) You can fetch the part I’m in and the rest “here”:http://www.pengerpapapiret.no/filmer.html.
If I saw that video in school, I’d want to go into software.
So.. yeah. Big news, summed up. I’ll blog more about it all the next weeks/months.
Dude. Noooooo! I’m sorry to see you go. Hopefully I’ll make it back over to Oslo before you do. Take care and good luck with your new endeavors.
