Amsterdam
We’re here. We’re finally here. Our — at least my — aim for the past several months/years, has been obtained. We’re in Amsterdam. I’m blogging from there. How’s it going? Read on.
Almost settled. I have a “job”:http://www.medialab.nl/ already, as “you know”:http://printf.dk/iquitamsterdamdocumentary.html. Katie’s been interviewing this week, with “KPMG”:http://www.kpmg.nl/, and that looks very promising. Her second interview, meeting the team she’ll be working with, for lunch, is this Thursday. That’s also when we’re getting our Dutch SOFI numbers (personal numbers), which means we can get bank accounts, proper phone subscriptions, etc. (right now I’m on a flaky t-mobile prepaid one). We got an apartment, as well. We found some “pictures online”:http://www.lauravanoverbeek.nl/blue/ostadestraat.html, although they’re not from our agent or anything, Google just dug them up. It’s very nice. 120m2, 2 bedrooms, 2 floors, 3 bathrooms (only one contains a bath, but hey, there’s even a bathtub!), 2 balconys, yadda yadda. It’s in the area called De Pijp, which is a very nice part of Amsterdam, with a huge market just down the street, cafes all around, and close to a park. Suffice to say, we’re thrilled. We’re both starting work February 1st, which is in a week, from the time of this writing. We’re moving in to our new place tomorrow, so we have a week to get properly settled, and haul various IKEA crap in to our new residence. All the way here, I’ve been a trusty little trooper, and taken pictures. Once we dig up the cable for the camera, I’ll make sure to blog it as well. I’m thinking “Howto: Moving from Oslo to Amsterdam.” Aaaanyway, it’s going well. We’re starting our new lives, and we couldn’t be happier. So far, so good. And yes, friends, we miss you.
This sounds amazing, and I’m really happy for you both! Good to see that you have two bedrooms, which means that you have room for visitors who can’t afford a hotel hint hint ;) When are you getting an internet connection?
